What if I were to tell you that you should allow an hour of stats checking every evening ?
Would you listen to me ? Probably not . One of the mistakes that most bloggers do is ignoring their stats ( not just new ones , a lot of experienced bloggers ignore stats ) .
They just take a look at them and say : 'Yeah , they're good . I'm done .'
Why are stats so important ?
1 : They reveal the keywords that bring visitors to your site . This doesn't mean that you should focus on them . This means that they are already working and you should analyze them and see why they are working . Then apply those methods for other keywords . Think about what other keywords fit your blog . Try and introduce them to the search engines . Look at the keywords that bring little visitors . See what's wrong with them .
2 : They provide you with your visitors behavior . We all appreciate a quick answer when we post a comment . Check your stats to see which hours are the busiest . Try and make room in your schedule so that you can give quick replies .
3 : They also show you which days of the week are the busiest . Prepare your best articles for those days .
4 : They show you which of your articles are the best . And no , this doesn't mean you should write yet another article on dog grooming . This means you should read your best articles and see what you did that was so good ( how did you seo'd it ? what was it's length ? why is it different than the others ? etc ) . Write all these observations on a piece of paper and then start applying them to future articles . See what works .
5 : Bottom line they reveal patterns in your blog . Patterns can be copied . Copy the patterns that work best and apply them to everything else .
You should always experiment . That's a key element in blogging .
