I've always believed that blogging is truly an organic experience from start to finish . And it's time consuming and it's brain chewing and , ultimately , it's an integral part of your life .
It's been 2-3 weeks since I last wrote anything here . In fact , it's been 2-3 weeks since I last wrote anything anywhere ( I've mentioned this somewhere - I own several blogs ) .
Now I am not going to try to justify myself . I believe that there is always time to write for a blog . Even if you write just one article every couple of days it's still good enough .
But time is not a bloggers problem . No matter how hard they try to use that excuse . The problem is energy , or - to be specific : lack of energy .
You ignore your blog not because everything is crazy in your life and you don't have the time to write . You ignore it because you throw your energy at everything else in your life except for your blog . And when you get an hour or two of free time you no longer have what it takes to write a quality blog post .
In the past 2-3 weeks I've moved twice , I got a new job , I've spent some serious time at the vet's office ( with my dog which is healthy now , thank God for that ) and I've broken up with someone and met someone else ... and , oh well , you get the big picture .
And after doing all these things and , at the same time , completely ignoring my blogs I realized one crucial thing : I had time to write . I only lacked the energy to do it .
And I realized one other thing : it's crucial that you maintain your rhythm when maintaining a blog . Because if you don't you risk falling into this crazy downward spiral that seems to have no end . Unless you say : STOP .
I've experienced , first hand , this endless drop when , with every passing day , you end up further away from your blog , from what you enjoy doing . Because there will always be something ELSE to be done .
But today I said : 'Stop' .
And what you do when you say 'Stop' ?
You simply write .
I've read dozens of guides and tips on getting out of this kind of slump . But I honestly think that the only way you can do it is ... by simply DOING IT . By pushing through . Good or bad - write . Good or bad - press that frightening 'publish' button .
You will gain momentum and after a few articles you will get back to being your brilliant self again .
So ... in conclusion : when you don't have the time to write ... stop it . Don't lie to yourself . You can make time to write .
What you lack is energy . And how can you get energy to write ? Well , unfortunately there is no RedBull specifically designed for writers so the only thing you can do is simply write .
